what we believe
Rona Community Church is a member of The Missionary Church, Inc. Thus, we willingly subscribe to its Articles of Faith and Practice {you can read of a full copy of these articles at the denominational website here}. At same time, we can summarize the essentials our faith into the following twelve statements.
1.We believe in the One God who is a Trinity.
We believe that there is only One God. We believe that He exists in loving tri-unity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that He created all things, sustains all things, and rules over all things.
2.We believe that God has revealed Himself and His Way in and through “The Holy Bible.”
We believe that God inspired the authors of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments to write what they did. Thus, we believe that “The Holy Bible” is the very Word of God.
3.We believe that God created humans.
We believe that God created us human beings – that He created us in His image and that He created us to glorify and enjoy Him forever.
4.We believe that the first humans turned their backs on God.
We believe that the first humans, Adam and Eve, fell into sin. We believe that, as a result of their disobedience, every human has been corrupted by sin and placed under the curse of death. Therefore, we believe that every human is separated from God. Furthermore, we believe that this humanly caused curse subjected all of creation to the bondage to decay.
5.We believe that God has supplied the answer to sin.
We believe that we humans can be rescued, restored and reconciled to God only through His grace. We believe that His work of grace was progressively revealed through His promises, His covenants, His nation Israel, His law, and His prophets, priests and kings. Furthermore, we believe that His work of grace is finally, fully, and completely revealed in His Son, Jesus Christ.
6.We believe in the Divine Human, Jesus Christ.
We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, one Person in two natures - fully human and fully God. We believe that He was conceived through the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. We believe that He lived a life of complete obedience to God; therefore, He was sinless. We also believe that He suffered and died and was buried. And we believe that He bodily arose from the dead and ascended into heaven.
7.We believe that Jesus Christ is Lord.
We believe that Jesus Christ’s incarnation, obedient life, suffering death, physical burial, corporeal resurrection, and bodily ascension finally, fully, and completely accomplished everything necessary for salvation. Thus, we believe that Jesus Christ, as our Representative and Substitute, voluntarily offered Himself as the perfect, complete and sufficient sacrifice for our sins. We also believe that His atoning death and triumphant resurrection defeated and disarmed all principalities, powers, and authorities (including sin, death and satan), thus He is the only basis for the salvation of the world. Furthermore, we believe that, with His work on earth now finished, Christ continues his ministry on our behalf in heaven, where He serves as our High Priest and Advocate.
8.We believe that human sin is dealt with in the act of salvation.
We believe that salvation is “by grace through faith” (Ephesians 2:8). Thus, we believe that God, in and through the work of Jesus Christ, saves us by His grace alone. We believe that, through His preceding grace, He brings us to the moment of salvation and that, through His saving grace, He saves and that, through His keeping grace, He transforms us into His likeness.
We also believe that the righteous response to God’s grace is faith. Thus, we believe that it is through faith in Christ alone that anyone is made spiritually alive and right with God. Furthermore, we believe that this faith must be active throughout the life of the believer, expressing itself in obedience and good works.
9.We believe in the Holy Spirit.
We believe that the Holy Spirit is God. We believe that He brings glory to Jesus by convicting the world of sin, righteousness and judgment and by drawing sinners to Him. We believe that the Holy Spirit regenerates, indwells, and unites believers into the body of Christ.
We also believe that, as His name suggests, the Holy Spirit actively engages in the divine work of making God’s people holy. We believe that, from the moment of our conversion until we are called to heaven, we must surrender to His sanctifying power in our lives as we battle the opposing forces of the world, the flesh, and the Devil. And we believe that our progressive growth in holiness will be accelerated and deepened through the decisive experience of submitting to Christ’s Lordship in every aspect of life.
10.We believe that Jesus established His community – the Church - on the earth.
We believe that the Church is composed of all believers in Christ. We believe that the Church is manifest on earth in local churches where Christ’s followers join together for worship and prayer, for learning to live God’s Word, for fellowship and for evangelism. Therefore, we believe that the local church is to incarnate the gospel’s transforming power in the areas of government, culture, society, and the environment.
11.We believe that Jesus will come again.
We believe that Jesus Christ will return to this earth – in order to bring His Kingdom, in its fullness, upon this earth.
12.We believe that there is the resurrection of the dead and the life everlasting.
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead to one of two eternal destinies: heaven or hell. We believe that those without saving faith in Christ will appear before God for final judgment and condemnation, resulting in a just sentence of eternal conscious punishment in hell. We also believe that all believers in Christ will have their lives and works judged for rewards and will live forever, experiencing eternal blessedness and joy with the Lord in the New Creation.
